Some people think Obama has no experience… well, here are the facts!

People seem to think that Obama came from nowhere… Well, before he was a US senateor, Obama was in the Illinois Senate for 8 YEARS! Now, in the US Senate, Obama has written 890 bills. He’s co-sponsored another 1,100-plus bills.  Here’s a summary of just several of the highlights.

• He’s had significant bills related to education (the Hope Act, which increased Pell Grants and also boosted training and resources for teachers who work in high-need schools).  These bills have been signed into law.
• He worked with Senator Coburn (and McCain, coincidentally) on the government transparency act, which sought to make public the way the government spent its money.
• Authored a bill that aimed to reduce the threat of nuclear and conventional weapons by foreign countries and terrorists, reaching across the aisle and working with Republican Senator Richard Lugar. Signed into law Jan. 11, 2007.  Info.
• Authored one of the largest ethics reform bills in US history, passed and signed into law in 2007. More info here.
• Obama was one of the first Senators to speak up about Avian Flu, making sure that the United States was prepared in case of an outbreak.  Here is more information on that bill.
• Introduced legislation that would make hybrid cars more affordable and easier to obtain, with the state goal of helping America rid itself of its dependence on foreign oil.
• Authored a bill that regulates the quality of genetic testing.  Before this bill, quality control for these vital procedures was non-existant.  Obama’s foresight helped families everywhere get better care for very serious illnesses and diseases.
• Introduced the Global Poverty Act, which will work to fight poverty through aid, trade and debt relief.

Here’s a rough breakdown of his bills by topic:

233 healthcare reform bills
125 on poverty and public assistance
112 crime-related bills
97 economic bills
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills
21 ethics reform bills
15 gun control bills

These are just Obama’s US Senate accomplishments.  For whatever reason, Republicans don’t seem to think that his eight years in the Illinois Senate count as experience.  If you are interested in his Illinois Senate record, there’s a good New York Times article about what he accomplished during his time there.  The article talks about how he worked well with both parties, and how he introduced important legislation for campaign finance reform, ethics, poverty and health care for children.

The man has his name on more than 2,000 bills in the US Senate.  He was a highly influential Senator in Illinois.  He taught constitutional law for 12 years at the University of Chicago, one of the best law schools in America.  I think it’s safe to say that Barack Obama has a good grasp on how America works.

So, the next time someone says that Barack Obama hasn’t accomplished anything, go ahead; prove them wrong.

My Take:

If you watched the videos above, you now understand that Barack Obama is an average family man… He EARNED his way through college and worked very hard to help people all his life.

If you still haven’t had the guts to see videos (at least the first one), I’m afraid you’re just another a sheep of your own party that will blindly believe anything they tell you… which in the case of Obama are mostly based on racist lies. But, if you took the time to view the videos above, congratulations - you are now an informed voter, and are now (in my opinion) ready to vote… and I think you should vote for Obama.

For you republicans, you must agree that the current administration is not a Republican administration! This  administration has been taken over by international corporate elitists; people who are NOT fiscal conservatives! They are burying our country in debt, they want you to approve torture, they want to be able to listen-in on everyones   conversations whenever they want (including yours!) and if they find someone they really don’t like, they can, if they want, send them to a prison somewhere off-shore where they can be kept indefinately! WHAT KIND PEOPLE ARE THESE!!! These people are NOT republicans… and you must not let them continue to break-the-back of this country! LOOK WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THIS COUNTRY IN JUST 8 YEARS!

Also, I know you can’t possibly be better off today than 8 years ago… So why would you vote for McCain who approves with Bush 90% of the time? We can’t afford to have another 4 years of this horrible economy. The best message you can send the current administration is to either vote for Obama or, at least, stay home on Nov 4th.

And to all the young people… GET OUT AND VOTE ON NOV 4! - McCain seems to love wars - and he has quite a temper… So, if you’re young (WATCH OUT!) - If Mccain becomes President, there is a REAL possibility that he will start another war and will have to institute the draft! (Did you know the army is taking people up to 42 years old now in some cases?) Is that what you want? Do you want to be sent to defend oil companies and the very rich? Do you want your kids or grandkids to go to war? Let’s give Obama a chance! He’s proven over the last two years to be a smart leader… Just look at who Obama has chosen for vice president - an experienced, knowledgeable vice president (unlike who McCain chose).

Obamas message is to get government to work for WE THE PEOPLE - Not for corporations! - Let’s work together and make the USA the best country on the planet again! - We are not simply Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Etc… We’re AMERICANS!
