Solar Thermal Powerplants: The Low-Cost Alternative Energy!

The solar thermal power plant stands at 40 stories high. (similar plants are being developed for the western US). The water in the tower is heated by the suns rays through the use of 600 gigantic mirrors. The focused rays turn the water into steam that subsequently generates power by turning turbines.

This simple and less innexpensive (compared to solar-voltaic panels) and even this size plant, can generate up to 11 Megawatts of electricity without emitting a single bit of greenhouse gas. Enough power for over 6,000 homes!

Imagine if we simply combined this system with solar panels on every government buildings roof! Each local government could do it, and create thousands of local jobs in the process! C’mon city employees (and everyone else living in the city)… get your Mayor to JUST DO IT!
