The Tweel - reinventing the wagon-wheel for the 21st century!
By George Lewis | July 21st, 2008 | Category: Featured, Green, Tech |It’s amazing how things go in circles… (pun intended). Michelin is introducing a “revolution” in tires for vehicles… The TWEEL - LOL - Don’t these people see that what they’ve “invented” is just the wagon-wheel just with high-tech materials? Well, at least it’s greener… due to all that rubber not filling up our dumps!
What next… an “new” type of car that doesn’t use fossil fuels… but runs on a new type of electricicty? C’mon, stop acting like you’ve re-invented the wheel, and give some credit to our forefathers who really “tested” their tweels on cross-country “off-road” trials across this great country of ours… Give them some credit!
What I find amazing is that it’s taken over 100 years to go back to this proven concept!
I think we can learn a lot from history… We’ve gotten so off course in our “progress” that we need to re-think many of our “old” ways and see what we can do to re-”invent” them so they can help solve many other problems.
for instance, we can fix most of our problems if we just went back to being self sustaining communities. Did you know that the average vegetable travels thousands of miles to get to your store? WHY? We need to buy more from our local farmers markets!
Did you know that most fruits and vegetables are picked green and sprayed with carbon monoxide to make them look fresh? Did you know that carbon monoxide is the gas we use to euthanize pets?
This brings me back to a central question of mine… is an invention really an invention if it’s just an old product made with new-age materials?
One last thought: Have human beings really evolved? or have we just found new materials to make killing people (wars) more efficient?
Well anyway, here’s the “new” Tweel (tire +wheel) “invention”
